Pigeons Pose a Serious Health Threat
Birds can be among the worst of nuisance pests, especially for commercial properties. Birds often roost on signs, ledges, or rafters on commercial buildings, where they leave a huge mess with their nesting material and droppings. Pigeon droppings especially can start to accumulate and pose a health risk to you, your employees, and clients.
Pigeons have adapted to urban environments. Cities are full of flocks of these birds and they often associate humans with food and are unafraid to get close to people. They leave their droppings and nesting material everywhere, particularly on cars. These materials can clog vents and drain pipes and even cause a fire hazard. The droppings and feathers can also contaminate livestock feed and food for humans. Pigeons also often carry many parasites and diseases. The histoplasmosis fungus can grow on the pigeon droppings.
